Safari and WebKit Development for iPhone OS 3.0 (Wrox Programmer to Programmer) ReviewThis is the best book on mobile web apps, especially iPhone apps. I have a background in CSS, javascript and PHP, but I thought I would have to learn objective-C to create apps for the iPhone. I found out about WebKit on the internet and I wanted to learn more. While some books touch on WebKit, this book explains it in detail.
I recommend some background in CSS, but you don't have to be a technical wizard to learn from this book. I was creating web-based apps for the iPhone in a matter of hours. I want to convert some of my existing web pages to look good on an iPhone. This book showed me how to make my web apps look like native iPhone apps. This information will be useful when I start working on iPad apps.
This book saved me hours on the learning curve, and since I can now tell my clients that I can create mobile apps, my business is increasing. Mobile apps are the future. iOS Forensic Analysis: for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (Books for Professionals by Professionals) ReviewThis book contains some useful descriptions of SQL column values you might not otherwise be able to intuit from casual schema diving, but it's also full of plainly offensive grammatical errors and blatant misinformation. The section on "WebKits" was particularly egregious--not only is there no folder called "WebKits" on the device's filesystem, WebKits (sic) were not "designed to speed up the experience for the user accessing data from the web using HTML5 technology." WebKit is an HTML rendering engine, and while there may be several active branches of said engine under active development, it makes little sense to refer to it in the plural. It makes even less sense to make up information to fill in the gaps in your understanding just to pad out your book.

Create Great iPhone Photos: Apps, Tips, Tricks, and Effects ReviewIt may be great for the photography and iphoneography beginner. This book discusses the best/most loved camera and filters apps. So it is a good guide on what apps to get. But it doesn't discuss in-depth the effects each filter app gives.
The basics on manipulating contrast, saturation, levels, histogram etc are there, but no mention that adjusting the histogram/levels will also increase contrast and create a color shift, so you may want to adjust those as well. No mention of the many things Iris Photo Suite does other than ColorSense and Layers (it does cropping, aligning, color balance, has a basic histogram etc). And even layers are not explained fully (that Multiply darkens, Screen lightens, etc). I understand that the Photo Fx app was only touched briefly, because going into all its effects would require a book on it's own.
The camera apps are explained well. From the filters (or effects) apps however, only Iris, PhotoForge, PhotoGene, Perfect Photo, and Photo Fx are discussed in any depth. The rest are mentioned briefly, and more in the style of which buttons to press to load and save a picture. It's more like a manual for the user interface of each app. For example, Hipstamatic and Swankolab deserved a lot more explanation on what each filter/lens does.
I already have most of the apps mentioned, and know the basics of what they can do, because they are easy to understand. I wanted to learn what each app excels at, like "Hipstamatic's Helga Viking lens accentuates blues and reds, and applies strong contrast and medium grain to the pictures", "Cross Process' Basic setting gives photos a toned down, earthy look". This way, if I was looking for a particular effect, I would know which apps to turn to. This book doesn't do it.

Xcode 4 (Developer Reference) ReviewOk, I have finished almost 75% of the book. I find it amazing, full of useful information and well-organized.
Good things:
1. Many parts are detailed. This is good when writing a book on IDE.
2. You will use as a reference. Yes, you'll read certain parts again and again from time to time. It Is a Developer Reference.
3. Almost every aspect of Xcode 4 is illustrated with figures and detailed steps. However, advanced features are not explained.
Bad things:
1. I think the first edition is considering Xcode 4. That Xcode "4.0" not 4.0.1 or 4.0.2 or 4.1". There are differences and they are not minors.
2. that's it.
I'd recommend this book for beginners and intermediate developer (like me). For advanced developers, it may not offer so much.
