Special Edition Using Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 ReviewThe other reviewers have done a fine job, and I do recommend the book, but my expectations were not completely met.
Firstly, it has a lot of repetition, which makes for a physically large book. Maybe this is good for learning for some, but I found it a little annoying.
Second, the examples are a little theoretical.
Finally the CDROM is a disappointment. Here is why
1. It includes "Woody's Office Power Pack 2003", which ONLY works with Office 2003, not XP or earlier. You have to pay for the earlier versions. No value to me, as I am an XP user.
2. The examples from the book are "buggy", and so far, I've not found them to work as advertised.
3. The so-called "software library" is only for trialware - 30 days max. The sort of thing you can download off the web anyway, so no added value here.
4. The graphics library is very small and limited when compared with other online sources - again, no added value
5. The remainder of the CDROM is simply advertising, with one valuable exception.
It has a complete copy of the book in PDF form, which is great for searching out references to subjects. Make sure you have the latest Adobe Reader. I would not bother to try reading the manual on my computer screen, but use Reader to find the right pages and go to the paper copy. But that's the only item of value that I have found on the CDROM.
I'm glad I have the book, but don't expect much from the CDROM. The claims of $ value on the CDROM are a little optimistic.Special Edition Using Microsoft Office FrontPage 2003 Overview

Blender 3D Architecture, Buildings, and Scenery: Create photorealistic 3D architectural visualizations of buildings, interiors, and environmental scenery ReviewBlender 3D Architecture, Buildings, and Scenery
Compared with a other Blender books in this price range the book performs rather poorly: the images are only BW and it has NO CODE associated with it (though the announcement on Amazon says so)- neither .blend nor .py files and the book's download page offers only a .zip files with a color version of the images for which you have to hand out your E-mail address ....
The level of expertise is for beginners; it gives a short introduction to Blender's interface which is too short for newbies and unnecessary for the more exprienced user.
Then it details the steps to model a simple multi-floor building as well as some "modern" furniture with UV mapping and radiosity. The animation part gives hints for the video sequence editor and logic bricks to produce a walkthrough as well as using the Gimp for postproduction.
The book seems to be written for an older Blender version,as there's still mention of the old UV/Face Select mode, though it could have been updated as the publisher seems to "print it on demand".
As this is the ONLY book about doing architectural modeling in Blender it receives two stars - one for its uniqueness and one for the instructional part.
I would consider buying the book again only at less than HALF the price considering the quality of print and the missing code mentioned already.

Windows® 7 Step by Step (Step By Step (Microsoft)) ReviewWindows 7 Step by step is what I bought for my sister. She's a novice PC user and wanted some help with using the newest Windows. Out of all the ones I read through at Borders this was the best for beginners and basics. If you are looking for a beginner book, probably a good choice but really will want to get a more advanced one to actually learn Windows 7. The more advanced one I like best is Windows 7: The Definitive Guide: The Essential Resource for Professionals and Power Users.Windows® 7 Step by Step (Step By Step (Microsoft)) Overview
