Creating Instructional Multimedia Solutions: Practical Guidelines for the Real World ReviewThis book does cover in-depth the different types and functions of multimedia in instructional design. The information is relevant and useful; however, it is poorly presented. It is cheaply printed, even the covers. The sheer amount of plain text and bulleted lists is mindnumbing. Some images are present, but many seem arbitrary and extraneous, serving no instructional purpose. Others would be more useful if they were of better quality and in color. In fact, only 10 images in the entire book are in color, and 5 of these are on the covers. One is the author's photo.
The book lacks any supplementary multimedia component in either CD-ROM or website form -- which is both strange and disappointing in a multimedia text, particularly one written for educators.
The book extolls the virtues of image quality, presentation, use of multimedia, etc... but it falls woefully short of following its own advice.
