Exploring AutoCAD Map 3D, 2012 ReviewIn my opinion, the tutorials in this book are harder to work through than they need to be. In many cases a tutorial may run through 15 - 20 steps without displaying a screen shot of a dialog box. This lack of imagery causes the step by step instructions to include "excessive" (once again, my opinion) verbiage to describe what could be conveyed easily with a couple photos.
To the authors credit, the beginning of each chapter is reasonably well documented/illustrated regarding the functionality covered in that chapter. In his defense, he probably felt that describing everything "up front" would alleviate the need to provide much illustration during the tutorials. In my opinion this would be okay if the tutorials were short, (maybe 8 to 10 steps). As an example, Chapter 4, Tutorial #2 requires 40 steps while never displaying a screenshot of a dialog box along the way.
Don't get me wrong, I will still finish the book, but as I work through it, I will keep my eyes open for alternate Map 3D 2012 books as they are published.Exploring AutoCAD Map 3D, 2012 Overview
